MBR, E-MOUNTAINBIKE Magazine, Expert curated

Strengths

  • + Same carbon frame and geometry as higher-spec models at significantly lower price
  • + MBR reviewer called it 'one of my favourite bikes of 2025' — outstanding value
  • + Marzocchi Z1/Bomber Air suspension punches well above its weight class
  • + Bosch SX with PowerMore 250 compatibility for 650Wh total
  • + Same agile, playful handling as the 8000 — the frame defines the ride
  • + 160mm enduro travel in a sub-21kg lightweight package

Weaknesses

  • 400Wh base battery limits range — extender sold separately
  • Shimano Deore brakes and drivetrain adequate but lack enduro refinement
  • Merida house-brand wheels flex under hard cornering loads — first upgrade target
  • Same firm suspension character as the 8000 but with less damping adjustment
  • Motor cadence dependency even more apparent with less refined components
  • Schwalbe tires less grippy in wet conditions than Maxxis equivalents

Motor: Identical Bosch SX to the 8000 — same 55Nm, same smooth delivery, same PowerMore compatibility. The motor doesn't change between spec levels, making the 6000 the value entry into Merida's lightweight enduro platform. Same cadence-dependent character applies.
